What is Reiki?
Reiki is a form of spiritual healing that helps restore a healthy balance of life force energy in the receiver. It is a descendant of the age-old healing practice of "laying of hands," and was formalized by Mikao Usui in Japan in 1922. The word rei means "life force," and ki means "energy."
Reiki is founded on the belief that a universal life force energy flows through all living beings. This is referred to by many names across cultures, including qi (China), prana (India), and lung (Tibetan Buddhism). Each of us has the ability to channel our life force energy in order to heal ourselves. But stress, trauma, illness, sleep deprivation, unhealthful foods, and the ups and downs of our day-to-day lives can all deplete or unbalance our energy. The Reiki practitioner serves as a conduit of universal life force energy. Their role is to gently guide this reiki energy to the areas we need it most. Universal energy heals our individual energy. In this way, Reiki healing helps us heal ourselves.
Laura Cherry is a certified Reiki Master, an empath, and an intuitive. She uses these gifts to bring healing to others, serving as a conduit for the divine life force, or reiki energy. She uses the traditional system of the 7 chakras as her guide for healing.
Laura practices Crystal Reiki, which combines the therapeutic properties of crystals and stones with Reiki healing. In addition, she uses sound therapy in the form of crystal bowls and tuning forks to attune the chakras. Essential oils and cleansing smoke from sage, palo santo, or sweetgrass may also be used, depending on client preference.
Sessions last approximately 90 minutes and can take place at any of the 3 Swan River Yoga locations (Mid-City Mandir, Uptown Shala, and Swan River Arabi Community Center), or at another suitable location. The price for 1 session is $100.
